April is National Poetry Month! We have been learning about and writing poetry in the Media Center and have focused on writing acrostic poems about Earth Day (April 22nd), Five Senses Poems and writing poems for Poem in Your Pocket Day (April 27th). We even did raps about Earth Day, here is an example. The Media Center teamed up with The Discovery Lab to teach Kindergarten and 1st grade about plants and planting in the garden! They learned about the plant life cycle in the Media Center by watching a BrainPop Jr. Video and reading eBooks about plants. They then experienced planting in their garden plot and will be watching for sprouts, seedlings, flowers and vegetables! 3rd-5th grade are learning about the Destiny Online Catalog by playing a Breakout EDU Game, Locked in the Library. Students prove their mastery of Destiny by using the catalog to answer questions and look for books. They then solve a puzzle to get a code to breakout! We had a successful author visit with Lynn Lilly of craftboxgirls.com and want express out gratitude for her visit! Here are some thank you cards from a 4th grade class! Congratulations to the 2017 Georgia Picture Book and Children's Book Award winners! Please help your student remember to return their library books on time! Library checkout is for two weeks and books can be renewed unless students are waiting for them. Students can come to the Media Center every morning and throughout the day with a pass.
