Click here for the 3rd-5th grade Nearpod Lesson. Students have been checking out a lot of books and are, for the most part, bringing their books back on time--we have a two week check out. One problem we have encountered is that students are damaging books with leaky water bottles. Please help your student by providing a water bottle that doesn't leak and showing your student how to place their water bottle in the water bottle pouch on the outside of their backpack--not inside their backpack. They also should not eat or drink while reading their library books! Thanks for your assistance! Fulton County Schools is introducing Beanstack, an online reading challenge and tracking program to help build a culture of reading at school as well as at home. I have begun to present this program to 3rd-5th grade students as part of the Media Center Curriculum. Stay tuned for more information as the program is rolled out in the district! Welcome back to school! We hope you had a wonderful summer! The Media Center will be back to normal with book checkouts this school year! We will start to checkout books after your class has been to the Media Center and checked out books. 1st-5th grade students will be able to come to the Media Center and checkout books before and during school after your teacher has been given Media Center passes. What is the amount of books that students are able to check out? Kindergarten students:1 book. 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students: 2 books. 4th and 5th grade students: 3 books. Remember that there is a 2 week checkout and if you damage or lose a book, you should pay the replacement cost. If a student has an overdue book, it needs to be brought back or replaced before another book can be checked out. The Scholastic Book Fair is coming September 7th-17th! The Week of September 7th will be Book Fair Preview Week. This is when students come with their class to look at the Book Fair and fill out a wish list. The Book Fair will be open for purchases on Friday, September 10th during the Ice Cream Social and will stay open during school hours until noon on Friday, September 17th. Click here to see our Book Fair Homepage! Stay tuned for more information! Digital Citizenship Lessons will be taught to all of our students in the Media Center.
