We have been busy in the Media Center reading the 2018-2019 Georgia Picture Book Award Nominees. 3rd-5th graders chose a favorite book and then created a BookTalk about that book. They used the iPad app, Videolicious to record their BookTalks and uploaded them to Seesaw. We will also be watching a BookTalk every Thursday morning on the Dolvin NewsSplash. Click here for a Google Slideshow full of student BookTalks! They really enjoy reading these high-quality picture books! This week 3rd-5th graders will begin a Breakout Edu game where they find clues which will help them find books in the library. They will answer clues that will enable them to unlock their team's lock. This is a great team-building game that also teaches them how to use the Online Catalog, Destiny, to find books in the library. Stay tuned for pictures to see if they were able to Breakout! This week, K-2nd Graders will focus on the GA Picture Book Award Nominee book, Ada Twist, Scientist. We will use Wonderopolis and PebbleGo to find answers to things they wonder about. Students were given overdue book notices last week. Please help your student be 100% Accountable and ask them if they have any overdue library books. We have a 2 week check-out policy and they can renew their book if it is not in high demand. Thankful for Reading Day will take place on Friday, November 16th. Our school will be celebrating books all day and will have guest readers. Students and staff are encouraged to dress up as their favorite book character!
