Mrs. Berkovich and I had so much fun reading and dressing up as Ada Twist, Scientist and Rosie Revere, Engineer on Thankful for Reading Day! These books by Andrea Beaty, spotlight the STEM curriculum (focusing on science, technology, engineering and math). Ada Twist Scientist is a 2018-2019 Georgia Picture Book Award Nominee! 3rd-5th Grade Students played a Breakout Edu game in the Media Center. They used the online catalog, Destiny, to find books in the Media Center and solved clues that led to the combination of a lock. They learned about the Dewey Decimal System, call numbers, the different areas of the Media Center and how to work as a team! The Media Center Maker Space is ready! This month we will feature lessons using Ozobot, Sphero SPRK+ and K'NEX . Ozobot is a robot that teaches kids basic programming, as you simply train the robots to follow patterns on the surfaces that they roll over. Ozobot can identify lines, colors, and codes on both digital surfaces, such as an iPad, and physical surfaces, such as paper. Sphero SPRK+is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and invention through connected play and coding, which fosters a love of robotics, coding, and STEAM principles through play. K'NEX Education is the connection of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, & math) with a child's curiosity and creativity. Calling all 3rd-5th grade tech savvy Dolphins...Enter the Technology Competition! Our Dolvin competition will take place in the Media Center on Wednesday, December 12th at 8:00 am.
