We had two wonderful Georgia Author Visits in January! Sherry Ellis came to visit K-2nd Grade to talk to us about her books and the writing process. We learned that you need to be very persistent if you want to become an author. Deron Hicks entertained our 3rd-5th Grade students with some art history as we learned about his book, The Van Gogh Deception, a Georgia Children's Book Award Nominee for 2018-2019! 1st-5th Grade students have been building robots with Cubelets in the Media Center this month. Students learn that you need to combine a Sense Cubelet, an Act Cubelet and a Think Cubelet to make a robot and they are following robot recipes and making up their own robots in small groups! Kindergarten students are having fun with Novel Engineering! We are reading Muncha! Muncha! Muncha! by Candace Fleming and are coming up with ways to keep rabbits out of Mr. McGreely's garden using Legos and Keva Planks. 3rd-5th Grade Students read Georgia Picture Book Award Nominees and created BookTalks! The 3rd and 4th Grade BookTalk Clubs read Georgia Children's Book Award Nominees and then created BookTalks about them. The 5th Grade BookTalk Club is currently meeting and will add their BookTalks to our collection! Our students will vote for their favorite Georgia Picture Book Award Nominees and Children's Book Award Nominees in the month of February! Good Luck to the Dolvin Students who will be participating in the Fulton County Technology Competition on Saturday, January 26th! Our current Mindset lessons are about being 100% Accountable! Please help your student be 100% Accountable by returning their library books if they are overdue! Thanks!
