We have been reading GA Picture Book Award Nominees in the Media Center! They are high quality picture books that connect to children, community and the curriculum. 3rd-5th grade will create book talks of their favorite picture book and K-2nd grade will conduct research on the book of their choice. Stay tuned for book talks and research projects! Click here for information about the Picture Book Award Nominees and here for information about the Children's Book Award Nominees.
We read the GA Picture Book Award Nominee, "Her Right Foot" by Dave Eggers, Illustrated by Shawn Harris. Students researched the Statue of Liberty on PebbleGo and shared what they learned by creating Word Clouds and sharing facts and drawings of the Statue of Liberty. Some classes used Keva Planks and Legos to make their own statues.
Current lessons in the Media Center will include Non Fiction Text Features and Exploring Fiction Genres. Stay tuned for photos!
